What is Biodynamic Breathwork?

6-elements-base.png

It is a powerful new somatic approach to physical and mental trauma and stress release.

This revolutionary system comprises of six elements integrating breath, movement,

touch, sound, emotion and meditation.

Deep connected breathing gently activates deep rooted tensions and suppressed emotional energy held in seven identified areas of the body, so it can rise to the surface to be released through conscious movement, vocal and emotional expression.

Incorporating bodywork we bring awareness to holding patterns, complete trauma and stress cycles and release energy held in the body's tissue. Meditation and skill guidance support you to remain present and connected to the breath and bodily sensations.

Systematically working through the belts of tension, we release long held tensions from the physical and mental structures, regulate the nervous system, allowing for deep relaxation and true transformation.

Once we come into connection with our authentic self, we can respond from the heart rather than react with emotion.

Biodynamic Breathwork in more details

The Biodynamic Breath and Trauma Release System (BBTRS)© was developed over 20 years of study, exploration and experience by Giten Tonkov. Its roots lay within Wilhelm Reich’s body oriented approach, Alexander Lowen’s  theory of Personality structure and Peter Levine's Trauma Healing therapy.

The foundation of this system is in how tension is held and distributed throughout the body-mind structure from trauma, conditioning or an accumulation of daily stress.  These deep rooted tensions are held in one of seven areas in the body that correlate to the chakras. These tensions that restrict the natural flow of breath, can show up as pain, illness and our behaviour and relationships are impacted. This process supports the dispersion of layers of body armouring and the release of mental physical and emotional blockages to contact our central core.

BBTRS©  allows the full range of human sensations and emotions to be experienced, expanding the capacity to harness and support the free flow of vital life energy. This cellular level restructuring supports the freeing of the spine and releases chronic tensions from the nervous system. Through this work we let go of negative self-image, fear, chronic tension and physical pain transforming into being more present, conscious and compassionate. We regain free flowing movement, unrestricted breathing, open up to emotional freedom acceptance of ourselves and others and celebrate life at its fullest with Meraki.

The six elements of Biodynamic Breathwork

Breath

Using deep connected breathing to build up the energetic charge within the body activates suppressed emotional energy within seven belts of tension, so it can rise to the surface for release

Meditation

Meditation is holding attention on being present. Its used at the beginning of the session to tune into yourself and with the practitioner. The session ends with a period of meditative rest to quieten the mind and integrate the experience.

Emotions

Whilst soft emotional release is not the focus, it can be a natural part of a session. Staying connected to the deeper feelings and sensations is supported to release and integrate trauma, rather than becoming overwhelmed.

Movement

Somatic and creative movement exercises are used with Myofascial unwinding, spinal undulation and whole body shaking. This conscious movement releases deep core tension and energy held in the body’s tissue allowing for deep relaxation and true transformation.

Sound

Sound has a profound effect on the nervous system. Music and vocal expression are powerful tools and resources in supporting release.

Touch

Conscious touch is applied with sensitivity from the body’s energetic field to contact with core muscles to increase awareness and support energy flow.
